Production Material Requests

A material request records the parts needed for a Production Order or Repair Order. Velosity initially copies the order's Bill of Materials (BOM) into the request. The copied quantities are a starting point that technicians can adjust as repair work progresses.

Open a request from Task Detail

  1. Open the Production Order Task.
  2. Select Materials.
  3. Velosity opens the material request for that task's Production Order or Repair Order.

This link goes directly to the associated request. You do not need to open the Materials section or search for the order.

You can also open Production > Materials to review the broader materials queue. Queue filters continue to support required and delivered requests over the selected schedule range.

Edit requested parts

Each material row contains:

  • Item #: The part number.
  • Description: A description of the part.
  • Quantity: The amount requested from or returned to stock.
  • Batch Number: The SAP inventory batch associated with the physical part.

Edit any field and select Save Materials. The saved rows replace the current request contents; the original BOM remains the baseline from which the request was created.

Request and return quantities

The sign of the quantity determines the inventory direction:

Quantity Meaning Example
Positive Request material from stock 2 requests two parts
Negative Return material to stock -1 returns one part

Use a negative quantity when a part is going back into stock. Do not create a separate return request.

Add a part

  1. Select Add Part.
  2. Enter the item number and description.
  3. Enter a positive request quantity or negative return quantity.
  4. Enter the SAP batch number when applicable.
  5. Select Save Materials.

Use this option for parts discovered during repair that were not included in the original BOM.

Remove a part

  1. Select the remove button on the material row.
  2. Select Save Materials.

Removing a row is appropriate when the part is not needed or is already available to the technician. Use a negative quantity instead when the part must be recorded as returned to stock.
